Minley Road Blackwater Camberley

http://www.parishofhawley.org.uk

St Andrew's serves the parish of Minley in North East Hampshire.  There is very little housing, most of the land being dedicated to MOD use.  St Andrew's is situated behind the security cordon of Minley Manor, former home to the Officers' Mess of the Royal Engineers.

Minley Manor was sold to private owners in October 2014.  The Parochial Church Council has been granted an easement to allow visitors to the church and churchyard to continue vehicular and pedestrian access the site though the main gate.

The Sunday service starts at 9.30am every Sunday (except one Sunday in December when there is an afternoon Christmas Carol service instead).  It is usually Holy Communion taken from the Book of Common Prayer or, if troops are present, a traditional language Ministry of the Word followed by a shortened Communion service.  Visitors are welcome at all our services.

The military chaplain officiates at most services, the Vicar being present no more than once per month.  (He is also the Vicar of Hawley, where he spends most of his time).

HOW TO ACCESS THE SITE

Please approach the main gate.  Unless it is between 9am and 11am on Sundays, it is possible that you will be met with a padlocked gate.  Do not be dissuaded.  Security staff in the little hut beyond the gate should come out to you and ask you your business.  You might need to call 07340 819870 if the are not in evidence. State that you want to visit the church or churchyard and you should be allowed in.  If there is any hesitation from the staff. politely point out that the Church has a legal right of access which extends to all those visiting the church or churchyard. It is important that any problems are reported so they can be taken up with the representatives of the new owners.

Although access to St Andrew's might seem problematic, it is usually quite manageable.  Regular visitors and members of the congregation may be issued with annual passes in due course.

PLEASE NOTE: THERE ARE NO TOILET FACILITIES AT ALL AT OR IN THE VICINITY OF THE CHURCH.
